2 Bedroom, 2 Bath Off Grid Home With Sweeping Ocean Views!
Escape the crowds to the South Coast of Big Sur! Come stay at our peaceful 8-acre retreat located near Gorda, Plaskett Creek Campground, and Sand Dollar Beach about one hour drive south of Big Sur proper. Located about one mile up a graded dirt road, accessible by most vehicles (4WD REQUIRED IN RAIN DUE TO RUTS AND SLIPPERY ROAD). It is accessible by Highway 1.
The home is perched 800 feet above the Pacific Ocean with expansive ocean and mountain views from every room. As you head through the gate at the end of the driveway, you will pass through a small redwood forest which leads to the 1600 sq ft off the grid home powered by solar and propane with fresh spring water. Recently remodeled, this beautiful home features vaulted ceilings with lots of windows to let the beauty of Big Sur inside. Includes limited Internet Access, a 55" TV for DVDs, an internet-based landline for short, emergency calls, and limited Verizon cell phone reception from the deck. Each of the two bedrooms has a new queen bed (2016) and linens. The two full baths are nicely appointed. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you will need for your stay. The deck has a table with 4 chairs and 4 lounge chairs and propane BBQ with propane provided. The home is surrounded by Big Sur gardens that change with the seasons. The home has on-site caretakers who share the driveway and live in the caretaker house located about 150 feet from the main house, behind a privacy fence.
Within a scenic 60-minute drive from our home, you are able to travel up Highway 1 to Esalen Institute, the iconic Nepenthe Restaurant and Gift Shop, Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park, McWay Falls, rustic Deetjen's Restaurant, Henry Miller Library, Hawthorne Art Gallery, Ventana Inn and Spa, Post Ranch Inn, and Big Sur Garden Gallery, as well as Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park, River Inn, and Andrew Molera State Park.
